Refund & Cancellation Policy

Introduction

Need of Change Foundation appreciates every contribution made towards our mission. We understand that situations may arise that require refund requests, and we have established this policy to handle such circumstances fairly, transparently, and in compliance with Razorpay's payment gateway requirements.

1. General Policy on Donations

All donations made to Need of Change Foundation are voluntary contributions towards our social programmes and are generally considered non-refundable once processed, as funds are deployed promptly towards our field programmes in education, healthcare, elderly care, and women empowerment.

However, we recognise that genuine errors occur and have made provisions for the following scenarios.

2. Eligible Refund Scenarios

We will process a full refund in the following circumstances:

a) Duplicate Payment
If your donation was processed more than once due to a technical error or accidental double submission, we will refund the duplicate amount in full.

b) Payment Gateway Error
If your account was debited but our system did not receive a successful donation confirmation due to a technical failure, we will investigate and refund if the amount was indeed deducted.

c) Incorrect Amount
If you donated an amount significantly different from your intention due to a website or form error (not a personal input mistake), we will consider a refund on a case-by-case basis.

d) Unauthorised Transaction
If you believe a donation was made from your account without your authorisation, please contact us and your bank immediately.

3. Non-Refundable Scenarios

Refunds will NOT be provided in the following cases:

  • Change of mind after a successful donation is processed
  • Dissatisfaction with our programmes or communication
  • Donation made on behalf of someone else without their knowledge (donor is responsible for authorisation)
  • Requests made after 7 days from the date of transaction
  • Donations for which 80G certificates have already been issued and submitted to the Income Tax Department

4. Monthly/Recurring Donation Cancellation

If you have set up a monthly recurring donation through our platform:

  • You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Donor Portal account under "Manage Subscriptions"
  • Cancellation takes effect immediately — no future charges will be made after the cancellation date
  • The current month's donation (if already processed) will not be refunded
  • You will receive an email confirmation of your cancellation
  • All 80G certificates for processed donations remain valid

5. How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, email us within 7 days of the transaction at: care@needofchange.org

Subject line: "Refund Request — [Transaction ID]"

Please include:

  • Your full name
  • Registered email address
  • Transaction ID or payment reference number
  • Amount donated
  • Date of transaction
  • Reason for refund request
  • Screenshot of payment confirmation (if available)

6. Refund Processing

Once your refund request is approved:

  • Processing time: 7–10 working days from approval date
  • Refund credited to: Original payment method (credit card, debit card, UPI, net banking)
  • You will receive email confirmation when the refund is initiated
  • Bank processing time may add 3–5 additional working days depending on your bank

Note: Razorpay transaction fees (if any) may be deducted from the refund amount as these are non-recoverable from the payment gateway.

7. 80G Tax Certificates

  • 80G certificates are issued within 30 days of a successful donation
  • If a refund is processed BEFORE an 80G certificate is issued, no certificate will be provided
  • If a refund is processed AFTER an 80G certificate is issued, the donor is responsible for not claiming the tax deduction for the refunded amount
  • We will inform the Income Tax Department of any refunds processed against which certificates were issued
